  • 3 Day Trip to Lake Geneva, WI - June 15-17

    DAY 1 - Monday, June 15 7:30 a.m. Leave Eastview Education Center, 9375 Fenning Ave. NE., Monticello. Load in front parking lot. Park on the far end of the lot near School Blvd. Make a comfort stop in Menomonie and have lunch (included) in Wisconsin Dells. Continue to Lake Geneva, WI. The area was a popular summer retreat for the barons of wealth in lumber, cattle, oil, steel, cement, manufacturing, and durable goods.They built mansions and large homes on the lake from the 1850s, through the heyday of the Roaring 20s.Check into Harbor Shores Resort, featuring park view rooms for a two-night stay. The hotel is located downtown near shopping and dining. Take time for dinner (on your own) at one of the nearby restaurants. Tonight, enjoy an entertaining show in Lake Geneva. DAY 2 - Tuesday, June 16 Board the Lake Geneva U.S. Mail Boat Tour. This narrated cruise features the beautiful mansions on the Lake. There are only a handful of places left in the country where mail is still delivered by boat and none with a more exciting and scenic tour. Mail is still delivered to about 60 homes around Lake Geneva daily, from mid-June to mid-September. The Walworth departs with a load of passengers, and a unique mail person. They must jump off the bow of the boat while it is still moving and on to the pier. Deliver the mail, grab any outgoing parcels and leap back on to the stern of the boat before it passes by. After the cruise, walk across the street for lunch (included) at one of Lake Geneva’s most popular restaurants. Meet a docent who will escort the group to the Black Point Estate and Gardens, overlooking Geneva Lake. It was the summer home for Chicago beer baron, Conrad Seipp, and four generations of his descendants.While taking in stunning views from the grand veranda you will get a taste of what it was like to summer in this historic place. Step into the original American dream and learn how this German immigrant built one of the finest examples of Queen Anne architecture. See one of the most intact collections of Victorian furnishings in the Midwest. It is a historic site owned and operated by the Wisconsin Historical Society. This evening dining is on your own in downtown Lake Geneva. DAY 3 - Wednesday, June 17 Travel to North Freedom, WI to visit the Mid-Continental Railway Museum. Spend time in the Train Coach Sheds that are filled with restored wooden passenger cars, freight cars and displays from the turn of the century. See examples of nationally renowned wood car restorations such as the Badger # 2 “Fish Car” the exquisite Art Nouveau-motif of the Milwaukee Lake Shore & Western # 63, the 1903-built Copper Range coach # 60. In the outdoor display yard, you can inspect steam locomotives up-close. There are nearly 40 train cars and locomotives on prominent. Board the passenger train for a memorable ride in restored coaches built in 1915. An authentically attired conductor will call "all aboard!" before the train leaves from the historic depot, built in 1894. Have lunch (included) and return to Monticello by early evening.     BRIDGES IN THE TWIN CITIES - Friday, April 24th 2026 - $112 9:00 a.m. Leave Eastview Elementary, 9375 Fenning Ave. NE., Monticello. Load in parking lot. 9:15 a.m. St Michael Elementary - 101 Central Ave W, St Michael 55376 - Pick up in the parking lot on the front of the building. 10:00 a.m. Meet your tour guide and discover the unique and interesting facts about the bridges in the Twin Cities on a riding tour. There are more bridges crossing the Mississippi River in the Twin Cities than any other place along the entire river’s length. Visit The Stone Arch Bridge. It is recognized as a National Civil Engineering Landmark. It was built in 1883 by James J. Hill’s Great Northern Railroad as a railroad bridge. It is now reserved for pedestrians and bicycles with panoramic views of St. Anthony Falls and the milling district of Minneapolis. The highest bridge in St. Paul is the Smith Avenue High Bridge, an inverted arch bridge with a deck height of 160 feet. You will hear stories about who built the bridges, how some have been re envisioned and the impact each bridge has in the community they service. [Note: weather permitting, there will be a couple of stops to get off the bus for a closer view.] 1:00 p.m. Drop off your Guide. 1:15 p.m. Arrive at Jax Cafe, serving Minnesotans since 1933, a landmark that was established by Stanley Kozlak. Menu: A Cup Soup made from scratch daily, a Chicken Salad Sandwich, Beverage, and a Cookie. 12:15 p.m. After lunch transfer a few blocks to Guthrie Theater. (Drop on 2nd Street) 12:30 p.m. Arrive at the Guthrie Theater and take a few minutes to explore public areas of the building. You can take the elevator or hop on one of the longest escalators in the Midwest for a 60-second ride to Level Four. The Endless Bridge on level 4 & 5 - Perhaps the most noteworthy feature of the Guthrie is a cantilever that extend 178 feet from the face of the building. Check out the postcard effect of the windows directing your eyes to specific attractions in the landscape. Amber Box on level 9 - Officially dubbed the Citizens of Minnesota Overlook, this lobby with amber windows provides a near 360-degree view of this historic neighborhood, including the river, Gold Medal Park and the downtown skyline. 12:30 p.m. Doors open to the McGuire Proscenium Stage. After a welcome introduction by the staff, this is a self guided experience. The purpose-built museum is located on the banks of the Mississippi River and boasts six galleries, an educational and events space, and a destination retail shop on its seven acre riverside campus. It is through this surprising diversity that MMAM is not only describing what marine art is, but pushing the boundaries of what marine art can be. Through education and exhibitions that explore the ongoing and historic human relationship with water.
