Big Lake Gymnastics XCEL Competitive team - ** INFO ONLY PAGE" CONTACT AMY HEDBERG ** ** Contact Amy Taylor at: firstname.lastname@example.org for questions or phone 612-306-4842 ** Big Lake Community Education competes gymnastics through the USA Gymnastics XCEL Program. The goal of this competitive team is to get gymnasts ready to successfully compete on their high school team. Gymnasts usually enter the XCEL team between the ages of 6 and 9, depending upon the individual. We do not limit participation to Big Lake Schools members. We do include members from any community if we feel they are a fit for competitive gymnastics. During the summer we train during the daytime. If you are a member of Big Lake Schools childcare they help families get their kids to practice during the day. We invite gymnasts from our community education classes to the XCEL team between March and June. We are watching all year long for dedicated gymnasts who maintain participation regularly who may be a fit for the team. Our decision in asking a child to participate is based on the following criteria: strength, flexibility, body control, the ability to focus during a longer practice, the ability to acquire skills quickly and the love of gymnastics. The XCEL program trains year round with a monthly payment; and competes between November and March. The levels of the XCEL team start at Bronze and then are Silver, Gold and Platinum. There is also a Diamond level that we choose year to year whether or not to participate in based on the current gymnasts needs. Bronze and Silvers train two days per week year round; for a total of 5-6 hours per week. Golds train 3 days per week in the summer; 2 days per week during the school year. Platinum/Diamond train 3 days per week all year; 8-9 hour per week.
