Big Lake Group Gardening Program

Learn the basics of vegetable and flower gardening in this series presented by the City of Big Lake, Big Lake Community Education, and the Sherburne County Master Gardeners. Registrants will attend monthly workshops at the Big Lake Community Gardens (18041 198th Avenue, Big Lake, MN) throughout the summer to learn the basics of planting, maintaining, harvesting and more. This series if FREE, but registration is required.

  • Be sure to register only once per household and input the number of potential attendees from your household.
  • Email is required as that is how reminders and handouts will be sent to registrants throughout the season.
  • Households will be required to sign up 2-4 times throughout the season for weekly maintenance of the Group Garden Plot. Any produce that is ready to be harvested can be taken home by the household maintaining the garden that week. Additional produce can be shared with other households or dropped off at the Big Lake Food Shelf.
  • Seeds will be provided by the Master Gardeners and City of Big Lake. The City will have some gardening tools available, but it is recommended that you bring gardening gloves and trowels if you have access to them.

Workshops start at 6: 30 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of the month with a virtual kick-off meeting on April  27 @ 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Workshop dates are as follows: May 11, June 8, July 13, August 10, September 14 and October 12.
